The total cost of its exploding airbag crisis could cost the Takata Corporation as much as $24 billion, according to analysis from the Tokyo-based company.



Takata has been executing recalls for the past several years to replace airbag inflators that have propensity for exploding and propelling shrapnel at drivers. The recall effort began in 2004, but injuries and deaths from the exploding inflators continue to be reported.



While safety regulators, like the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration have allowed Takata time to remedy the situation but patience is wearing thin, according to a report from Bloomberg, and a total recall could be in order.



The $24 billion is just a worst-case scenario project, but if Takata is forced to execute anything even close to a total recall, it could be crippling for the company. Takata has sold roughly 287.5 million airbag inflators to automakers around the world since 2001, including Honda, Ford, Mercedes-Benz, Saab, Volkswagen and Audi, according to a report from Reuters.





Some of the total recall costs could be absorbed by the automakers involved, but that would have to be negotiated between all the parties. Either way, the future looks grim for Takata.

Seoul: Birds living among people are able to differentiate between individual humans but scientists have now found that skuas living in remote Antarctica can also recognise people who had previously accessed their nests.



The researchers from Inha University and Korea Polar Research Institute in South Korea performed a series of experiments on brown skuas living in Antarctica.



They checked the nests once a week to monitor the breeding status and the skuas attacked when researchers visited repeatedly.



To test if the birds specifically distinguish the researchers who visited the nests from those who did not, a pair of humans consisting of nest intruder — who accessed the nests — and neutral human — who never accessed the nests before — approached the nests and walked towards the opposite directions.



All seven skua pairs followed and tried to attack the nest intruder but never followed the neutral human.



“I had to defend myself against the skuas’ attack,” said Yeong-Deok Han, a PhD student at Inha University. “When I was with other researchers, the birds flew over me and tried to hit me. Even when I changed my field clothes, they followed me. The birds seemed to know me no matter what I wear,” Han said.



“It is amazing that brown skuas, which evolved and lived in human-free habitats, recognised individual humans just after 3 or 4 visits. It seems that they have very high levels of cognitive abilities,” said Won Young Lee, a Senior Researcher from Korea Polar Research Institute who led the research.



The cognitive abilities of Antarctic animals have not been well studied before, researchers said. Brown skuas have been recorded to steal food from other birds or even steal breast milk of nursing elephant seals.



According to the researchers, this opportunistic feeding habits may make them cleverer with time. “Since this area has been inhabited by humans only after the Antarctic research stations were installed, we think that the skuas could acquire the discriminatory abilities during a short-term period of living near humans,” Lee said.

Street Fighter V’s March update is to launch on March 28th, but the micro transaction store isn’t quite ready. To make up for the fact that players wouldn’t be able to purchase Alex, who joins the roster on March 30th, he’s being given out to all players on a free trial.



The in-game store will open on March 28th, allowing players to spend their hard earned Fight Money. However, it doesn’t support microtransaction currency Zenny, which is purchased with real money, just yet. Capcom says this is being pushed back to ensure it’s "fully tested and optimized."



To make up for this inconvenience, Alex is being released for free on a trial basis until the Zenny shop launches. Meanwhile, Season Pass owners will get their hands on a free stage in the near future, and exclusive access to DLC characters’ premium costumes until the Zenny shop launches.



The Street Fighter V March update adds multiplayer lobbies for up to 8 players, match spectating, a Challenge Mode, and additional Ranked Match options.

Bethesda finally releases the new and first DLC for Fallout 4 called the Automatron DLC this week and while most people were busy coming out with a robot companion of the own, other were searching the game for some hidden features that we all know is there.







One of the hidden features you will find in the new DLC is the Automatron Pip-Boy Minigame which is located at the Ford Hagen Satellite Array. Here is how you can find and play the mini game.



In the Headhunting mission, you will need to go to the Ford Hagen Satellite Array. Get to the bunker beneath the Ford, it will be unlocked as part of the quest. Locate Automatron which is at the terminal after you defeat Ahab.



You should be able to find a glowing bottle of Nuka Cola next to the terminal. Read the notes left by Ivery and you can start playing the minigame.

If you are using an LG V10 on the Verizon network, you might already be knowing that the carrier had announced the rollout of Android 6.0 Marshmallow for the V10 yesterday. The good news is that Verizon has kept its promise and the LG V10 Marshmallow update is rolling out now. The software version for the new update is VS99022A, and it comes with all the Marshmallow features like new app permissions, Google Now on Tap, Doze Mode, etc.



If you own a Verizon-locked LG V10, you can go to Settings > About phone > Software updates > Check for update and see whether the OTA update has arrived on your device. No links for the firmware have been posted online, but they will surely appear soon on XDA Developers just in case you prefer manual upgrades over the OTA ones.



Before you download and install the update, make sure that the battery of your LG V10 is charged and the an adequate amount of storage space is available, as the LG V10 Android 6.0 Marshmallow update is a huge one. In case you have rooted your V10, the new update might or might not break the root, so proceed with caution.

Well, it's a small iPhone.



That is what I can tell you about the new iPhone SE, which essentially takes the powerful processor from the iPhone 6S and puts it into a 4-inch design. Apart from the new rose gold color, it's almost completely indistinguishable from the iPhone 5 or (now-discontinued) 5S. Same chamfers, same screen, same bezels. If there's any surprise, it's that Apple didn't skimp on anything here (except, of course, the storage). The camera is the same 12-megapixel shooter you'd get on an iPhone 6S, except here it's even better because it doesn't stick out at all.



For two years now, Apple os top-of-the-line iPhone made people accept the trend of larger phones — but even though most people who made the switch felt fine with a 4.7-inch phone, there were bound to be some people that are not. For those people, the iPhone SE offers a modern, powerful update.



Usually, getting a small phone has meant getting a phone that skimps on power or on the camera (or, most likely, both). That is absolutely not the case with the iPhone SE. It feels every bit as fast and modern as an iPhone 6S, able to move quickly through screens and web pages. Obviously we weren't able to test the camera very extensively, but we can say that it launches quickly and takes photos just as fast.



But seriously, you havve all seen an iPhone 5 or 5S. You know what it looks like. That is both good and bad: there are certain aesthetics on this body that I do not think have aged very well — the glass bits on the back in particular. But then again, sticking with the same body (and the same thickness) has maybe given Apple an opportunity to push the other elements forward. The camera doesn't stick out, for example, and hopefully Apple has put in a large enough battery to make this thing last as long as its larger cousins.



I just keep saying it because there is not much more to say: this looks like an iPhone — and people who want that smaller size are going to really like it.
